Paul Iams, 89, a onetime dog food salesman who developed the Iams line of pet foods, died Oct. 26 in Chappaqua, N.Y. The cause of death was complications from a broken hip, said his daughter, Barbara Iams Korein.

He started the Iams Food Co. at a feed mill in Tipp City, Ohio, in 1946, after working for several years as a dog food salesman for a grain company. He later moved his company to Dayton.
