The Clippers received welcome news Monday, when they learned they would move their practices from Los Angeles Southwest College to the Spectrum Club for the remainder of the season.

They will practice at the Spectrum, in El Segundo, until the team builds a permanent practice facility.

“The best thing is, we’ll be in a place that we can call our own,” Corey Maggette said. “The team has made a commitment to making things better.”

The Clippers had to commute from Southwest, where they had gym time, to facilities where they could lift weights or undergo treatment for injuries.

“It’s going to be nice,” center Chris Wilcox said. “No more driving back and forth.”

The Clippers have practiced at Southwest for the last five years. They begin at the Spectrum on Friday.

Kerry Kittles could make his debut before Thanksgiving. Coach Mike Dunleavy was already anticipating the increased depth in his rotation, with Kittles joining Maggette, Bobby Simmons, Marko Jaric and Shaun Livingston.

“We’re going to have five players that are very compatible at three positions,” Dunleavy said. “We’ll have a lot of minutes to divide and a lot of versatility at those positions for the different type of people you have to guard.”
