Rattled, hurried and battered for 2 1/2 quarters, Donovan McNabb kept his poise, stayed in the pocket and picked apart Washington’s secondary.

McNabb tied a personal best with four touchdown passes, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a 28-6 home victory over the Redskins on Sunday. Three of those scoring passes came in the second half.

The Eagles are 9-1 for the first time since the 1980 season, when they opened 11-1 and went to the Super Bowl.

They can clinch their fourth consecutive NFC East title with a victory at the New York Giants next Sunday.

“We knew it was going to be a dogfight playing against a tough defense,” McNabb said. “It took some time, but we got the job done.”

McNabb threw two touchdown passes to Brian Westbrook and one each to Terrell Owens and Chad Lewis.

Patrick Ramsey, making his first start of the season after replacing the ineffective Mark Brunell last week, couldn’t revive Washington’s sputtering offense.

The Redskins (3-7) haven’t scored more than 18 points in a game this season, the longest the team has gone without scoring 20 points since the 1930s.

McNabb ran five times for 34 yards, was sacked three times, lost a fumble and threw an interception in the first 35 minutes. He completed nine of 12 passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns the rest of the way. McNabb was 18 of 26 for 222 yards before Koy Detmer came in to finish the game.

Tampa Bay 35, San Francisco 3 -- Buccaneer Joe Jurevicius scored his first touchdowns since last year’s season opener, getting into the end zone twice in Tampa, Fla.

The victory was the fourth in six games after an 0-4 start for Tampa Bay (4-6). The 49ers (1-9) have lost five in a row and were held to 197 yards total offense, with Tim Rattay being sacked five times and turning the ball over twice.

Carolina 35, Arizona 10 -- Reserve running back Nick Goings ran for a career-high 121 yards and three first-half touchdowns, and the Panthers jumped to a 28-point halftime lead at Charlotte, N.C.

Muhsin Muhammad had two touchdown catches, the first with two seconds left before the break, for the Panthers (3-7), who needed little more than a dominant first half to get their first home victory of the season and their second win in a row.

Shaun King finished with 343 yards passing in his first start of the season for Arizona (4-6).
