Re “Clinton Library Opens With Bridge to the Past and Future,” Nov. 19: If Bill Clinton thinks his $170-million presidential library will affect his legacy, he’s living in a dream world. Reversing a Republican deficit of $290 billion to a budget surplus of $124 billion, adding 20 million new jobs, moving lifelong welfare recipients to be counted among the gainfully employed, nearly brokering an elusive Middle East peace accord, bringing Catholics and Protestants together to stop the killing in Northern Ireland, helping to stop ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo -- all these things and more President Clinton accomplished during his two terms.

And Michael Ramirez, instead of looking objectively at the record, disrespects the former president in a seedy cartoon (Nov. 18). Thankfully, Ramirez is not a reporter, as his politics clearly obfuscate his ability to depict fact.
