Tice Won’t Limit Moss’ Play Count

Minnesota Viking receiver Randy Moss may be approaching his All-Pro form a little sooner than expected.

Earlier this week, Viking Coach Mike Tice said Moss, who has sat out three consecutive games because of a partially torn right hamstring, would be held to 25 plays in Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Moss’ progress in practice this week prompted Tice to retract that statement Friday, saying Moss wouldn’t be limited by an artificial play count.

“The only thing that’s holding him back is endurance in his legs -- and not necessarily [from] the injury,” Tice said. “He feels like he has training camp legs now; he hasn’t done anything in five weeks. He worked extremely hard Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Now, he’s going to stretch and get himself feeling as good as he can feel by Sunday.”

Drew Henson is still the Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback of the future.

While Coach Bill Parcells was forced to start Henson on Thursday, benching him at halftime proved the future isn’t here just yet. In fact, there’s no guarantee Henson will start again anytime soon, with Parcells indicating that Vinny Testaverde probably will start a week from Monday at Seattle.

“I know everybody’s been clamoring and fans are booing and all that,” Parcells said. “I really don’t care, so I’m going to do what I think’s best.”

Seattle Seahawk quarterback Matt Hasselbeck returned to practice and is expected to play Sunday against Buffalo.

Hasselbeck had acupuncture treatments for a deep bruise just above his knee. He was hurt on the first play Nov. 14 at St. Louis and sat out nine days of practice, as well as last Sunday’s 24-17 win over Miami.
