Teen Riding in Van Is Fatally Shot
A 16-year-old boy riding in a van was shot and killed by a pedestrian after a confrontation in Rowland Heights, authorities said.
The victim and two other juveniles had stopped the van at Los Padres Drive and Sierra Leone Avenue about 11:25 p.m. Friday to confront several pedestrians, one of whom fired a shot into the vehicle, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Alba Yates.
The gunman and the other pedestrians fled, authorities said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. His identity was being withheld pending notification of his family, Yates said.
