From Times Wire Reports

Sacramento city officials approved $3.1 million in redevelopment funds to restore a 1920s landmark building near the downtown Union Pacific rail yard.

Developers want to turn the former freight shipping warehouse into shops, restaurants and offices. In return for the public funds, the developers will give the city a say in how the vintage brick building is used and what it will look like.

The Railway Express Agency rehabilitation project is expected to cost $8.7 million.
