Bomb Is Found at Simi School
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad safely removed a pipe bomb discovered Friday at Mountain View Elementary School in Simi Valley.
The unexploded device was discovered at about 10:45 a.m. by a janitor, said Sgt. Joe May, a spokesman for the Simi Valley Police Department.
By the time authorities arrived, school officials had moved the 1-inch diameter metal pipe to a safe area on campus away from classrooms, May said.
The school, which has about 500 students, was not evacuated.
The incident, which is under investigation, was over in about an hour, May said.
