Workplace Fatalities Edge Up to 5,559 in ’03

Workplace fatalities in the United States rose to 5,559 last year, an increase of 25 from 2002, with most occurring in the construction and transportation industries.
Latino workers continued to have the highest on-the-job death rate, the Labor Department said.
The numbers translate to four deaths a year per 100,000 workers.
