Mom Delivers Baby Girl in ESPN Zone Bathroom
A Bay Area woman on Thursday gave birth to a baby girl in the second-floor bathroom at ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney, fire officials said.
A couple at the restaurant assisted the woman, 24, of Fremont, who was also with her mother and grandmother.
“This seemed to be a surprise to everyone,” said ESPN Zone General Manager Ernie Ritchie. “She just felt that she had to go to the restroom. She went in and realized that something was happening that wasn’t expected.” Ritchie said that the mother had not complained of labor pains and that the baby was not due.
The baby was delivered at 4:10 p.m., moments before paramedics arrived, officials said. The mother and daughter were admitted to a hospital.
