Former Judge Pleads to Embezzling From Clients
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A former Los Angeles County Superior Court judge who later worked as an attorney pleaded no contest Wednesday to embezzling money from his elderly clients.
Huey Percy Shepard, 68, stole nearly $200,000 from five victims, including $99,000 from a 90-year-old woman who was on life support, prosecutors said. He was supposed to use that money to help pay for the woman’s medical care.
Shepard, a judge from 1975 to 1981, faces up to seven years and four months in state prison.
