Shaquille O’Neal was on the bench in a suit, still recovering from a nasty stomach virus. Dwyane Wade played his worst game of the season.

And the Detroit Pistons happily took advantage of the Miami Heat’s lack of star power.

Richard Hamilton scored 17 points, Tayshaun Price scored 16 and the Pistons stymied Miami for three quarters, then saw a 20-point lead trimmed to four down the stretch before holding on to win, 80-72, Sunday and end the Heat’s franchise-record 18-game home winning streak.

With O’Neal sidelined for a third consecutive game and Wade unable to get anything started, the Heat set season lows for scoring in a game, half and quarter, established another low by shooting 34.6% and have lost two in a row for only the fourth time all season.

“Any time you win at 1 o’clock on a Sunday in Miami, it’s a tough game to win,” said Piston Coach Larry Brown, whose team has won six in a row. “They never gave up. I hope we are fortunate to play them in another series. It would be a great matchup.”

The victory moved Detroit within one game of clinching the Central Division title. Barring a total collapse, the Pistons will be seeded No. 2 behind Miami in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Eddie Jones had 19 points for Miami, which hurt itself by shooting 14 for 26 from the foul line. Wade had only five points on one-for-six shooting before fouling out with 4:13 left.

“We went at him with five [fouls]. We didn’t have just one guy guarding him,” Hamilton said. “We did key on him, and did a good job with that.”

Wade declined to comment after the game, saying only through a team spokesman that “if I talk, I’m going to get fined.” He fouled out for only the fourth time this season, and drew a technical foul in the third quarter.

Alonzo Mourning, who started in place of O’Neal, had 10 points, a season-high 14 rebounds and five blocked shots.

San Antonio 136, Golden State 134 -- Tony Parker made a sprawling layup with 2.9 seconds left to cap his career-high 35 points at Oakland, and the Spurs ended the Warriors’ eight-game winning streak with their second double-overtime victory in two nights.

In the NBA’s highest-scoring game this season, Parker also had 12 assists while winning a duel with Baron Davis, who had 38 points, nine assists and two last-second shots to force both overtimes.

Davis finished two points shy of his career high, but the Warriors scored only two points in the final 3 1/2 minutes of the second overtime.

The Spurs played without Manu Ginobili (stomach virus), who joined Tim Duncan (ankle) and Rasho Nesterovic (ankle) on the sidelines.

New York 113, Indiana 112 -- Michael Sweetney scored a career-high 20 points and made a rebound basket in the final second of overtime, and the Knicks ended their longest losing streak in 20 years at nine games.

The Pacers, who had a season-best six-game winning streak end, lost despite leading, 112-106, with a minute left after a layup by Reggie Miller, who led Indiana with 34 points.

Jamal Crawford led New York with 32 points.

Memphis 102, Charlotte 95 -- Shane Battier had 25 points and 11 rebounds at Memphis, Tenn., to help the Grizzlies move 4 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota for the final Western Conference playoff berth.

Portland 90, New Orleans 81 -- Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 25 points and 10 rebounds at New Orleans, and the Trail Blazers ended three losing streaks -- seven games overall, 10 in a row on the road, and four in a row against New Orleans.
