Child Molester Skips Court, Flees
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A former state prison doctor skipped court and fled before jurors convicted him of child molestation, authorities said.
James Daly, 64, was last seen Sunday morning in his Carmel Valley home by his wife. She later received a letter from him saying he was leaving because he felt he was not receiving a fair trial.
Daly was arrested in May 2004 on charges of aggravated assault and rape. A jury convicted him Wednesday of 10 counts of molesting a family member. He could be sentenced to 58 years.
