Putting Family on the Political Payroll

Share

Re “Political Payrolls Include Families,” April 14: I am surprised about all the controversy surrounding members of Congress paying spouses, siblings and other family members for professional services. So far not one shred of evidence has been presented that these family members didn’t perform professional services. Moreover, if these same family members were longtime personal friends of the various Congress members, no one would be saying “boo” about these payments.

I think our country has far more important issues to worry about than payments to family members for professional services. After all, wouldn’t you hire your family member if he/she were qualified for the job?
