Update -- Chivas USA has re-invented itself with the arrival from Mexico of attacking midfielder Francisco Palencia and forward Juan Pablo Garcia. The two combined to score all three of the team’s goals in their 3-3 draw with the MetroStars on Sunday, when Chivas blew a 3-1 lead in New Jersey. With eight games left, Chivas is 15 points out of the fourth and final playoff spot. FC Dallas, meanwhile, will be playing its third match in its new soccer-specific stadium, Pizza Hut Park in Frisco. Dallas forward Carlos Ruiz leads the team with 10 goals. Dallas, which has outscored Chivas, 10-4, this season, is on a seven-match winless streak (0-5-2) in league play dating to June 25. Dallas figures to regain the services of forward Eddie Johnson, sidelined because of an injured toe. Chivas is without midfielder Francisco Gomez (left quadriceps strain) forward Matt Taylor (left groin strain) and midfielder Hector Castro (left knee). Defender Douglas Sequeira has returned from Spain, where he played 17 minutes for an MLS select team in a 5-0 loss to Real Madrid.
