Big Pick Six Payoff Awaits

Share

For the second Thursday in a row, the new -- and, in this case, the final -- week at Hollywood Park begins with a hefty pick six carry-over.

Nearly $136,000 awaits pick six players after a series of longshots were successful in the sequence Sunday.

Jockey Martin Pedroza, who begins the final five days of the fall meet with a 23-20 advantage over Patrick Valenzuela in the riders’ race, is on contenders in several of the pick six contests, which are the final half-dozen on the eight-race program.

Pedroza will be on Dee’s a Legend, recent maiden winner Olympic Experience in the fourth, She Roves in the fifth, probable favorite Clipper Spirit in the sixth, late runner Say Tomorrow in the seventh and longshot River Song in the eighth.

A 2-year-old maiden daughter of Old Trieste, Clipper Spirit could be ready to graduate for trainer Mike Harrington after consecutive runner-up tries at the same $40,000 level. She will break from post five in the six-furlong sprint for California-bred fillies.

Race of the day: Spun Silk, who beat maidens by 13 1/4 lengths in her first start at Philadelphia Park on Nov. 1, returns to New York for today’s $65,000 Ride Sally at Aqueduct. Pablo Fragoso will ride the 3-year-old daughter of A.P. Indy for Darley Stable in the restricted stakes at one mile and 70 yards. Tax Considerations, Quick Time, Dream Time, Pleasant Laughter, Victory Pool and Ms Louisa Quatorse complete the field.

One for the road: Fog City Willy is aggressively spotted for his first start since April 10, 2004, and can fire fresh over a track he loves in today’s sixth at Golden Gate Fields. Claimed for $10,000 in his last start by trainer Gennaro Vallejo for owner Bob Gilley, the 9-year-old Present Value gelding is returned in a $25,000 claimer against nine opponents at six furlongs. Chad Schvaneveldt will ride Fog City Willy, who has won seven of 13 at Golden Gate.

Exotically speaking: An early pick four using Da Svedonya and Newyearresolution in the first, Tommyland in the second, Tessa Time, Dee’s A Legend and Honeeluv Drop in the third and Memorly, Daily Forecast and Olympic Experience in the fourth.

Winners: (previous day/meet total): 5/70. Money: (previous day/meet total): $45/$382.60. Total money bet: $372.
