Drink in a bit of New York

Share

Certain things you have to go to New York to experience. A chopped liver and corned beef sandwich at the Carnegie Deli. A transit strike the week before Christmas. The ubiquitous blue-and-white coffee cup that says “We are happy to serve you” in Greek-style lettering whether they were happy to serve you or not. Scratch that last entry. The classic coffee-to-go cup is now available wherever you may be. And yes, it comes with the tear-away tab lid for perfect sipping when on the run. They’re sold in packages of 100 and 200, so you can sip and run all year long. Or you could bring them out with dessert at a party for homesick New Yorkers. A company called New York First calls it “the most famous paper cup in the world.” Dixie cup may disagree, but it’s just jealous. You can buy it in the original paper ($28 for 100 cups and lids; $48 for 200) or environmentally sensitive ceramic ($24 set of two).
