Fullerton Shop Owner Dies When His Forklift Tips Over
A Fullerton man was killed Wednesday when he lost control of a forklift that overturned on top of him.
Daniel Christian Carvalho, 44, was pronounced dead about 3:45 p.m. in an alley in the 2400 block of East Fender Avenue, near a car repair shop he owned, police said.
“It looked like the roll bar was on the back of his neck and his face was to the pavement,” said Lt. Kevin Hamilton, a spokesman for the Fullerton Police Department.
Hamilton said it appeared that Carvalho was towing a car with its back end lifted about 20 inches off the ground in the slightly graded alley when the forklift tipped over on its side and pinned him. Carvalho was dead by the time paramedics arrived, Hamilton said.
