Stanford Can’t Stop Boston College Rally

Aja Parham had all 15 of her points and all seven of her rebounds in the second half, and No. 24-ranked Boston College rallied to defeat No. 14 Stanford, 77-69, Wednesday at Boston.

Brooke Queenan, who had 16 points in the first half, was seven for eight from the free-throw line in the last 7 minutes 54 seconds to finish with 23 points.

With the Eagles (11-2) leading by three points, Queenan made two free throws with 55 seconds left and Parham secured the victory with two free throws with 34 seconds to go.

The Eagles, who won their fifth consecutive game, trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half.

Candice Wiggins scored 20 points for the Cardinal (6-4), which led, 47-33, with 18:46 left but scored only four points over the next 7 1/2 minutes.

Boston College started a 16-4 run with a 6-0 spurt and scored eight consecutive points to cut the deficit to 51-49 with 11:19 remaining.

No. 1 Tennessee 75, No. 22 Temple 50 -- Candace Parker scored 16 points to lead the Lady Vols (11-0) at Philadelphia.

Tye’sha Fluker had 12 points, and every player scored for the Lady Vols (11-0).

Tennessee got an early scare when Parker, the team’s second-leading scorer, left because of an apparent left ankle injury.

But she returned after sitting out nearly eight minutes and the Lady Vols never looked back.

Tennessee began pulling away with a 21-6 run that closed out the first half and gave the Lady Vols a 31-17 lead. After Temple went ahead, 11-10, Tennessee scored 11 consecutive points, including three-point baskets by Alex Fuller and Shanna Zolman.

Candice Dupree had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Temple (8-3).

No. 3 Louisiana State 72, No. 11 Michigan State 52 -- Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles each scored 20 points at Baton Rouge, La., to lead the Lady Tigers (9-0) in a match-up of two of last season’s Final Four teams.

Victoria Lucas-Perry matched her season high with 15 points for Michigan State (8-3).

No. 12 Notre Dame 58, Valparaiso 50 -- Lindsay Schrader scored 13 points at South Bend, Ind., in the first game for the Irish (9-1) after a 10-day holiday break.

Notre Dame had 19 turnovers but held the Crusaders (5-5) to 36% shooting.

No. 13 DePaul 84, Missouri State 74 -- Khara Smith scored 25 points and Caprice Smith had 15 to help lift the Blue Demons (13-1) at Chicago.

Tahnee Balerio led Missouri State (5-3) with 22 points.

No. 25 Virginia Tech 89, Longwood 70 -- The Hokies (11-0) had a 52-27 advantage in rebounds over the Lancers (3-9) and had 18 steals at Blacksburg, Va.

Kirby Copeland, who finished with 14 points, scored six in a row as Virginia Tech took a 16-point lead with 16:15 left.
