Half-century of bountiful camellias

Re “Camellias, the Black-Tie Bloom” [Jan. 27]: We had a white camellia bush at the northwestern corner of our house that a previous owner planted when the house was built in 1947. It had hundreds of buds each year.
The previous owner also planted three bushes of a pink and white variety along the northern wall of the property, two bushes of solid pink along the northern wall of the house and five other bushes alongside the sidewalk leading to our front door. They have blossomed each year of the 50 years we have lived in this home.
As I write, I can look out and see dozens of flowers.
