Mike Jensen helped No. 13-ranked Washington show its depth.

The 6-foot-8 junior forward came out of a season-long scoring funk with a career-high 17 points Sunday and Washington beat Stanford, 76-73, in a Pacific 10 Conference game at Seattle for their eighth consecutive victory.

Jensen’s three-point basket tied the score, 67-67, with 3 minutes 12 seconds to play, and his two free throws with 12 seconds left provided the final margin.

Jensen had been averaging 6.8 points, but first-year Stanford Coach Trent Johnson wasn’t surprised by the reserve’s big game.

“They have about eight guys who can score,” Johnson said. “Mike Jensen is a heck of a player. What makes Washington so good is that no matter who they put in, you have to guard them.”

Jensen said this game would help his confidence.

“I just got it rolling and it didn’t stop,” said Jensen, who had seven rebounds. “I finally started hitting the shots that I hit all last year.”

The Huskies, who improved to 12-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, dropped the two-time defending conference champion Cardinal (6-6) to their first 0-2 start in conference play since 1990-91. It is also the first time Stanford has been swept on the road by the Washington schools since 1993.

Tre Simmons had 17 points for Washington and Nate Robinson had 10. In March, Simmons had 16 points when the Huskies ended the Cardinal’s 26-game winning streak.

Chris Hernandez and Dan Grunfeld each had 15 points for Stanford. Rob Little and Tim Morris each had 12 and Nick Robinson had 11.

No. 14 Arizona 97, Arizona State 79 -- Channing Frye had 21 points and Mustafa Shakur had 20 at Tucson, and the Wildcats (11-2, 1-0) won their eighth game in a row in the Pac-10 opener for both teams.
