UCLA Keeps Streak Going

No. 22 UCLA won its 10th straight game at home by outscoring Oregon by 18 points in the second half Tuesday night in a 70-54 victory at Pauley Pavilion.

It is the Bruins’ longest home winning streak since they won their last six games of the 1989-90 season and first four of the 1990-91 season.

UCLA outscored Oregon, 44-26, in the second half to overcome a 28-26 halftime deficit to remain undefeated (3-0) in Pacific-10 Conference play. The Bruins are 9-3 overall.

Junior guard Nikki Blue led UCLA with 16 points and nine rebounds and sophomore guard Noelle Quinn added 15 points with nine rebounds.

UCLA shot only 27.5% in the first half but stayed close by forcing 13 Oregon turnovers. The Bruins took control in the second half with 14-3 and 11-3 runs.

Oregon (9-4, 2-2) was led by Cathrine Kraayeveld’s 16 points and nine rebounds.

USC 62, Oregon State 51 -- Kim Gipson scored 11 points and Eshaya Murphy had eight points and 13 rebounds to lead the Trojans (8-4, 2-1 Pac-10) before 1,025 at the Lyon Center.

Ten of the 11 Trojan players scored.

Kim Butler and Shannon Howell scored 19 points apiece for Oregon State (4-9, 0-4).

The Trojans dominated the boards, outrebounding Oregon State, 45-28.
