* Liz Claiborne Inc. said it acquired C&C; California Inc. for at least $28 million. Liz Claiborne, based in New York, said it would make additional payments in fiscal years 2007, 2008 and 2009 based on performance.
* General Motors Corp. is working with Sandia National Laboratories on a four-year, $10-million plan to develop storage tanks that would let hydrogen-powered vehicles travel as far as gasoline models on a tank of fuel. GM also said that its sales in China rose 27% in 2004 and that it planned to introduce 10 new or upgraded models this year.
* United Airlines pilots ratified an agreement with the carrier that provides $180 million in annual savings to help the airline exit bankruptcy protection.
