‘Housewives’ is people’s choice

CBS’ venerable “The People’s Choice Awards” definitely wasn’t the pick of TV viewers Sunday night. The popularity contest that saw Michael Moore and Mel Gibson win the big movie honors attracted a mere 9.9 million viewers from 9 to 11 p.m. -- the lowest rating in the show’s 30-year history, down 20% from last year.

ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” continued to be Sunday’s most-watched series with an average of 25.2 million viewers. Fox, though, should be pleased with the showing for the first two installments of its series “24,” which scored an average of 14.9 million viewers from 8 to 10 p.m.

From 10 to 11 p.m., NBC’s “Crossing Jordan” drew 15.3 million viewers to edge ABC’s “Boston Legal” -- which introduced new cast member Candice Bergen -- with 14.7 million.
