Legislative Leaders Talk, but Shutdown Persists
From Times Wire Reports
Leaders of the Legislature’s House and Senate met in an effort to resolve a budget impasse that has shut down a portion of the state government, a legislative official said.
Education and health services were among the disputed budget issues. The sessions were to continue today, but even if an agreement was reached, it might be Tuesday before any action could be taken, the aide said. State offices will be closed on Monday.
