WHO FATHERED GABRIELLE’S BABY? Is Rex really dead? Will viewers follow the women of Wisteria Lane to another network? Only one of those questions will be answered when the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards airs at 8 p.m. Sept. 18 on CBS. Ratings for last year’s award show were abysmal, and efforts are underway to streamline the ceremony. (Good luck with that -- it hasn’t worked for the Oscars.) Emmy producers were likely to have cheered the 15 nods for “Desperate Housewives”: The satire-turned-ABC-ratings-bonanza could potentially draw viewers to the awards ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium.
