2 Jailed in Killings of Westminster Fortuneteller and Her Daughter
Two people suspected of slaying a well-known fortuneteller and her 23-year-old daughter at their Westminster home have been arrested, officials said Thursday.
A man and a woman were being held at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder in the April 21 slayings, Westminster police said.
Ha Jade Smith, 52, and her daughter, Anita Nhi Vo, a student at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, were found dead in their Bird Avenue home. They were repeatedly stabbed and white house paint was poured on their faces and hands, police said.
The house had been ransacked, and jewelry and cash had been stolen, officials said. Police have said robbery may be a motive. Shortly after the bodies were discovered, police released sketches of a man and a woman who were spotted leaving Smith’s home.
Police said the woman resembled the sketch and was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of burglary, fraud and grand theft. On Thursday, officials obtained a murder warrant.
Police are expected to hold a news conference today in Westminster to release details of the slaying.
