Arizona State Goes for a Super Weekend
Colin Curtis hit a three-run home run to help host Arizona State defeat Coastal Carolina, 9-5, Sunday and win the Tempe Regional.
The Sun Devils (37-22) will play the winner of the Fullerton Regional in a super regional next weekend. Coastal Carolina finished 50-16.
Oregon State 19, St. John’s 3 -- The Beavers (44-9) scored 13 runs in the second inning en route to winning the Corvallis Regional and will play the winner of the Long Beach Regional in a super regional next weekend. St. John’s finished 41-18.
Tennessee 12, Wichita State 2 -- Rob Fitzgerald had four hits, including a homer, and the Volunteers (44-19) won the regional at Knoxville, Tenn. Wichita State finished 51-24.
Nebraska 10, Creighton 2 -- Zach Kroenke struck out 13 and the host Cornhuskers (54-13) won the Lincoln Regional. The Bluejays finished 48-17.
Florida 23, Notre Dame 3 -- Brian Leclerc and Jeff Corsaletti each drove in four runs to help the host Gators (43-20) win the Gainesville Regional. Notre Dame (38-24-1) gave up 21 hits.
Florida State 10, Auburn 4 -- Shane Robinson hit a three-run homer to help the host Seminoles (53-18) win the Tallahassee Regional. Auburn finished 34-26.
Clemson 8, Oral Roberts 3 -- Kris Harvey hit two homers and the Tigers (42-21) won the Clemson Regional. Oral Roberts finished 42-20.
Mississippi 20, Oklahoma 5 -- Barry Gunther and Brian Pettway each homered, and the Rebels (47-18) won the regional at Oxford, Miss. The Sooners finished 35-26.
Texas 19, Arkansas 8 -- Taylor Teagarden hit a homer and three doubles for the Longhorns (48-15) in the Austin Regional. Texas and Arkansas (39-21) play the deciding game today.
Miami 10, Mississippi State 4 -- Brendan Katin had four hits in the Coral Gables Regional and the Hurricanes (41-17-1) won their 12th consecutive regional title, an NCAA record. Mississippi State finished 42-22.
South Carolina 8, Georgia Tech 3 -- Steve Pearce homered twice and the Gamecocks (41-22) forced a deciding game tonight with the Yellow Jackets (44-17) in the Atlanta Regional.
