Catchings Sends Fever Past Shock

Tamika Catchings regained her scoring touch and helped the Indiana Fever to the best start in the team’s six-year history.

Catchings had 20 points and a career high-tying 16 rebounds to lead the Fever past the Detroit Shock, 84-79, in overtime Wednesday at Indianapolis.

Catchings, who had averaged 10.3 points while making only six of 39 shots in her last three games, added eight assists and six steals.

Indiana (6-3) remained undefeated in five home games and moved past Detroit (5-3) into second place in the Eastern Conference.

Deanna Nolan led the Shock with 32 points.

Minnesota 86, Seattle 81 -- Despite making only five of 18 shots, Katie Smith scored seven of her team-high 21 points in overtime to lift the Lynx (5-3) at Seattle. Lauren Jackson had 26 points for Seattle (6-4).

Phoenix 76, San Antonio 62 -- Kamila Vodichkova had 21 points and the Mercury (3-6) used 11-0 and 15-4 second-half runs to overcome a nine-point halftime deficit to beat the Silver Stars (2-8) at Phoenix.

Katie Feenstra scored 15 points for the Silver Stars.
