A Responsibility to Iraq
I opposed the decision to invade Iraq and think that it has become a heart-rending debacle. However, I am even more strongly opposed to calls to bring the troops home now. We are there. Even if it is shown that the administration lied before the war, we created the current situation and took on a responsibility to the Iraqi people.
We must remain until we can hand over control of the country under circumstances that will not degenerate immediately into civil war.
