Property Tax System Will Be Analyzed

Hoping to streamline Riverside County’s property tax system, the Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to hire a consultant to analyze how the assessor-county clerk-recorder, auditor-controller and treasurer-tax collector can better work together.
An outdated computer system, lack of communication among departments and bureaucratic errors led roughly $100 million to be diverted into a county account rather than disbursed among communities.
