Forensic Exam Set for Body Found in Chimney
A forensic anthropologist today was scheduled to examine the remains of what authorities said was a young person found in the chimney of an abandoned building, coroner’s officials said.
Investigator Lt. Fred Corral said the scientific consultant would pore over the skeletal remains to determine age, gender and ethnicity. Such examinations generally take two hours, he said. Authorities also will check missing persons reports.
Children found the remains Friday while searching for a ball on the roof of an abandoned building near Main and 89th streets. Officials said the children looked into a chimney and saw a human skull. The circumstances of the person’s death are unknown.
