A City Waits Breathlessly for a Decision

Last month we were told Phil Jackson was leaning 51% toward returning to coach in the NBA next season and now he doesn’t have a driving urge to come back to coach. Is he leveraging Dr. Buss for even more money or does the Zen Master have a commitment problem?

Either way, I bet the Lakers or Jeanie Buss won’t have a ring on their finger anytime soon.

For months, I have been grappling with my Mercedes. The air pressure in the tires was always getting low. Every time I pulled into a gas station, I had to ask the attendant to fill it up with air as well as gas.

I was mystified as to what to do about it until I saw the interview with Jerry Buss. Dr. Buss confided he’d traded Shaq because Shaq was so fat. This really opened my eyes. It was the perfect opportunity to see firsthand how an expert businessman handles complex problems of that nature.

The car problem was a snap to take care of. I just traded the Mercedes in for a nearly new Toyota Corolla and a couple of used trucks. Voila! No more tire problems! The rest of you folks could profit by taking note on how cunning businessmen like Dr. Buss and me minimize our losses.

Since Phil Jackson did an interview about the quality and commitment of the Laker roster, he won’t have to write the follow-up “tell-all” book. And if Jerry Buss thinks Mitch Kupchak has put together such a good roster, why not ask him to coach it?

As Phil Jackson meditates, ruminates, cogitates, ponders, and pontificates, we begin to realize that he is over the hill. It is time for him to retire to his cabin in the woods and write another bestseller.

Jerry Buss or Kobe: Please trade Luke Walton as soon as possible. In that way, no one will ever watch another Laker game and Staples Center can be demolished for a much-needed parking lot in L.A.

Mr. Buss, in your recent interview two things were very clear. One is that you cannot accept the fact that trading Shaq was a giant mistake. Two, you and Donald Trump have the same hairdresser.

It’s game time and I can hear the echo throughout Staples Center of only two fans: you and Jack.
