Man Is Convicted in Wausau-Area Arsons

A man accused of setting garage fires that terrorized the Wausau area two years ago was convicted of six counts of arson.

Kevin Zarm, 39, was convicted of 26 charges, including arson, burglary, theft and reckless endangerment.

He was acquitted on eight charges, including some of the fires.

Prosecutors acknowledged that no one saw Zarm ignite any of the fires, but witnesses testified he was obsessed with deer antlers and some were missing from places where fires were set. Evidence included Zarm’s cab rides to the scenes of fires, phone records and stolen property, including some antlers from a deer named “Lucky,” prosecutor Jill Falstad said.
