Blaze at Which Fireman Died Is Ruled Arson

City fire officials say a house fire at which a firefighter collapsed and died Saturday was arson. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.

Veteran city firefighter Ed Teran, 43, died of an apparent heart attack while helping mop up the blaze in the 5200 block of La Sierra Avenue. Teran’s funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Riverside. Anyone with information about the fire should call (951) 358-2799.
