Los Angeles police said Thursday that they are investigating whether officers gave celebrity Paris Hilton and her entourage special treatment following a hit-and-run traffic accident in Hollywood.

Officials said they were shown video footage of Hilton’s boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos, hitting a parked truck in the parking lot of a Hollywood club early Wednesday with a vehicle believed to be his $200,000 Bentley.

The video, shot by a freelancer, shows LAPD officers talking to Hilton’s entourage before the group departed. The footage includes Hilton blowing the officers a kiss and saying, “I love the police.”

But LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon said the 20-second video was deceptive because it left the impression that officers arrived immediately after the accident and did not properly take a report of the incident.

Vernon said that the department’s initial investigation indicates that the officers happened upon the group and were unaware of the parking lot collision. He said the department had yet to receive any complaint about the incident.

“Nobody has come forward to report that they were the victim of a hit and run,” Vernon said.

Hilton could not be reached for comment.
