Coyotes Keep Blue Jackets Down, 5-1

Ladislav Nagy had a goal and two assists, and David LeNeveu made 23 saves at home to help the Phoenix Coyotes beat Columbus, 5-1, on Sunday night, extending the Blue Jackets’ losing streak to five.

Mike Johnson scored his second goal in three games, and Zbynek Michalek, Boyd Devereaux and former Blue Jacket forward Geoff Sanderson also scored for the Coyotes, who won for the third time in four games.

Gilbert Brule scored his first NHL goal for the Blue Jackets, who have lost nine of 10.

Johnson put Phoenix ahead, 1-0, with a power-play goal at 6:37 of the first period, taking a return pass from Nagy on a give-and-go and bouncing the puck off the back of Columbus goalie Marc Denis.

N.Y. Rangers 3, Boston 2 -- Jaromir Jagr broke a third-period tie with his 19th goal, and the Rangers sent Boston to its sixth straight loss, in New York.

It is the first time the Bruins (7-10-5) have dropped six in a row since Feb. 11-23, 1997. Boston has led or been tied in the third period in five of the losses.

Jagr’s 556th goal moved him into a tie with John Bucyk for 18th on the NHL list.

Tampa Bay 5, Carolina 2 -- Fredrik Modin had a goal and two assists, and Vincent Lecavalier and Brad Richards each added a goal and an assist at home for the Lightning.

Ruslan Fedotenko also scored, and Vaclav Prospal had an assist to push his points streak to 13 games.
