Boy, 2, Is Killed by Train While Crossing Tracks
A 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Monday as his baby-sitter was leading him and two other children across the tracks at a point not designated as a railroad crossing, officials said.
The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Investigators said it appeared that the woman led the toddler and his 4-year-old brother across the tracks first, then went back for a stroller carrying her own infant. The toddler apparently tried to follow her and was struck while standing on the tracks.
Authorities were questioning the baby-sitter.
