A writer is suing Project Greenlight and Miramax, alleging they stole his idea for the unscripted show “Project Runway,” court papers show.

According to the multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this week, Joel Lamontagne had copyright and Writers Guild of America registration of a treatment for a show called “America’s Fashion Designer Search.”

Lamontagne, a writer living in Florida, made the treatment available to Project Greenlight, which stole his idea and co-produced the show with Miramax, his suit alleges. The program, hosted by Heidi Klum, premiered on Bravo in December and is due to return next month.
