Fedorov and Lupul Help Ducks Beat Kings, 5-4

Sergei Fedorov and Joffrey Lupul each scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Mighty Ducks to a 5-4 exhibition victory over the Kings on Friday night at the Arrowhead Pond.

The line of Fedorov, Lupul and Todd Fedoruk accounted for 11 points as Fedoruk chipped in three assists. Andy McDonald added a third-period goal for the Ducks, who finish the preseason tonight in Phoenix.

Pavol Demitra scored two goals and Tom Kostopoulous and Eric Belanger each added power-play goals for the Kings in their final exhibition game.

Forward Ken Belanger, who came to the Kings’ training camp as a tryout, moved a step closer to making the team, signing a one-year contract Friday. He was with the team in 2002-03 but suffered a concussion in his fourth game that season and has not played since. He is competing with George Parros and Ryan Flinn for the enforcer role.

Defensemen Mattias Norstrom (strained hamstring) and Tim Gleason (bruised knee) skated for the first time since being injured in a game Tuesday. Both said they expected to be ready to play in the season-opener Wednesday.... Sean Avery sat out Friday’s game with a sore groin, Coach Andy Murray said.... The Kings reassigned goaltender Adam Hauser to Manchester and released defenseman Brad Norton.
