California left tackle Andrew Cameron is out for the season after tearing a ligament in his right knee last weekend.

Cameron, a junior who started all 12 games for the 10th-ranked Golden Bears last season, won’t have surgery to repair his knee until the swelling goes down, Coach Jeff Tedford said Tuesday. He was hurt on a non-contact play in the first quarter of Cal’s 28-0 victory over Arizona.

Junior Scott Smith will replace Cameron. Cal plays UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Saturday.

Additionally, Tulane’s game against Marshall on Oct. 29 has been moved to Mobile, Ala., because of Hurricane Katrina.... Kenny Cattouse rushed for 109 yards and Troy (2-3, 1-0) held on for a 13-10 win over North Texas (1-3, 1-1) at Denton, Texas, to end the Mean Green’s 26-game Sun Belt Conference winning streak.
