Rice Assistant Demoted
Charlie Rizzo replaced Roger Hinshaw as defensive coordinator at Rice on Tuesday, taking over a defense that has given up 50 points and more than 500 yards a game during an 0-4 start.
Rizzo, who joined the Rice staff in 1998, will also continue to coach the linebackers.
Hinshaw, defensive coordinator since 1998, will remain secondary coach.

The New Orleans Bowl, scheduled Dec. 20, is moving from the Hurricane Katrina-damaged Louisiana Superdome to Cajun Field on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
The game matches the Sun Belt Conference champion against a Conference USA opponent.
Two other major football games that traditionally were played in New Orleans -- the Sugar Bowl and the Bayou Classic -- have moved temporarily out of state because of hurricane damage.
The Sugar Bowl will be played in Atlanta, and the Bayou Classic has moved to Houston.
