I loved Brad Dickson’s “The 86-Proof Solution” [Oct. 20], but I have to say I was shocked that rum and Coke is considered the “average Joe” drink. I’m half-Peruvian, and in Latin America and in the U.S. the drink is called a “Cuba Libre.” This is a political statement and a joke.

What other drink can you order in a pirate voice while wearing an eye patch? I think it’s a revolutionary/pirate drink. Ernest Hemingway loved it, and he’s no average Joe.
