Swimmer Is Bitten in Possible Sea Lion Attack
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A sea lion apparently bit a female swimmer in the ocean off Goleta Beach, authorities said.
The woman, whose name was not released, had to be rescued about 7 p.m. Sunday after she was bitten on the legs while swimming between Campus Point and the Goleta Pier.
She was not seriously hurt, authorities said. In July, a lifeguard swimming off El Capitan State Beach apparently was bitten by a sea lion and required 30 stitches to close the wound.
