Ex-Adelanto Official Sentenced in Vote Fraud
Zoila Meyer, a former Adelanto city councilwoman who authorities determined was not a U.S. citizen and thus could not hold elected office, pleaded no contest Friday to voting fraud, a misdemeanor.
Meyer was sentenced in San Bernardino County Superior Court to probation until she pays a $235 fine and $1,080, her council salary, to the city of Adelanto.
Meyer resigned from her council seat in January 2005, after district attorney’s investigators determined that she was a legal resident but not a citizen as she had declared on her candidacy papers.
