The last time the White Sox played at Comerica Park on Sept. 29, they clinched the American League Central en route to their first World Series title since 1917.
Freddy Garcia (1-1) gave up three runs and five hits over six innings for the White Sox. Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.
Jeremy Bonderman (1-1) gave up four runs and six hits in seven innings for the Tigers.
Baltimore 6, Tampa Bay 3 -- Erik Bedard (2-0) gave up four hits over seven scoreless innings and the Orioles won in the Devil Rays’ home debut under new principal owner Stuart Sternberg. Tampa Bay drew 40,199, the fourth sellout in the team’s nine-season history. Jay Gibbons had a home run and bases-loaded infield single off Seth McClung (0-2), who also lost to Bedard and the Orioles last Wednesday.
