Girl, 17, Killed in Drive-By Shooting
A 17-year-old girl was killed in a drive-by shooting Tuesday evening as she sat outside her home with a 19-year-old male companion, police said.
Shortly before 6 p.m., police said, the victim and her companion were sitting on the curb in the 1300 block of Glenfield Court when a black Nissan pickup drove up and someone inside the vehicle fired several rounds. The unidentified girl died at the scene. The man escaped injury.
It was unknown if the shooting was gang-related.
“This kind of thing shouldn’t happen,” LAPD spokesman Jason Lee said. “It’s broad daylight and there’s a drive-by shooting and a young girl’s life is cut short.”
