Dishonest campaign ads reach a new low
Re “Gov. Taxing the Truth in Attacks on Angelides,” column, Aug. 24
Thank you, George Skelton, for an honest, straightforward appraisal of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s campaign ads attacking Phil Angelides’ tax plan. The Schwarzenegger commercials accusing challenger Angelides of proposing a massive tax increase are unethical and dishonest. I only wish this article had been placed on the front page of The Times instead of the article on Schwarzenegger’s new strategy to “undercut” Angelides.
The people of Los Angeles need to see more articles exposing bad political commercials, which it seems have reached a new low in exaggerations and almost lies. It is up to our media to put these ad campaigns into perspective because there is no law that prevents unscrupulous ads from making their way on to the small screen.
