Predators’ Sullivan gets three in one

Steve Sullivan had a natural hat trick in the second period, and Scott Hartnell added two goals for the Predators, who defeated the Ottawa Senators, 6-0, in Nashville on Thursday.

It was Sullivan’s sixth NHL hat trick and his third with the Predators. He scored the three goals in a span of 5:56, the quickest for any player in Nashville history, and showed no effects of a groin strain from last week.

New York Rangers 5, Dallas 2 -- Henrik Lundqvist made a career-high 43 saves, Matt Cullen and Karel Rachunek scored two goals each, and the visiting Rangers extended their winning streak to five games.

Lundqvist’s brother Joel was in the Dallas lineup, making it the third matchup of twins in NHL history.

Vancouver 3, Calgary 1 -- Henrik Sedin scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Roberto Luongo made 20 saves to lift the host Canucks.

Boston 5, New Jersey 3 -- Patrice Bergeron scored two goals and Brad Stuart broke a tie early in the third period for the host Bruins.

Buffalo 2, Florida 1 -- Maxim Afinogenov scored a power-play goal early in the third period, lifting the host Sabres. Afinogenov, who also had an assist, scored during a 5-on-3 advantage.

Montreal 4, Tampa Bay 2 -- Cristobal Huet made 41 saves and Saku Koivu scored twice in the third period at home for the Canadiens.

Detroit 3, Chicago 2 -- Dominik Hasek made 29 saves on the road for the Red Wings, who have won four of five.

Detroit forward Tomas Kopecky broke his collarbone 53 seconds into the third period. He will have surgery today and could be out up to three months.

Phoenix 5, Columbus 4 -- Mike Comrie scored on the final attempt of the shootout for the host Coyotes.

Edmonton 3, Minnesota 1 -- Jarret Stoll and Shawn Horcoff scored 14 seconds apart late in the third period at home for the Oilers.
