Suspected drunk driver dies, family hurt in crash
A suspected drunk driver died after his pickup collided head-on with another truck and injured a family of four, police said Saturday.
Jose Esparza, 38, of Santa Ana was pronounced dead at UCI Medical Center in Orange shortly after the collision about 6 p.m. Friday.
Police said Esparza, who may have been fleeing another crash four blocks away, was driving north on Bristol Street near Washington Avenue when his Toyota Tacoma veered into the southbound lanes and struck a Dodge Ram.
The family in the Dodge was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
